American History 

"My PhD, from Duke University, North Carolina, was on peasant women in nineteenth century Russia. I have a Master’s degree in colonial Indian history from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. I am interested in gender and in the history of colonialism. In Singapore, where I have lived since 1999, I taught world history and American history at Overseas Family College. In addition to teaching history I work with AWARE (Association of Women for Action and Research). I was editor of their annual journal, Awareness, and am presently working on a book for them about women’s activism in Singapore."
