1. How long does it take to obtain a U.S. degree?

U.S. degree typically takes 4 years to complete. The 1st & 2nd years cover General Education, which is a requirement of the U.S. education system. The Center for American Education (CAE) gives students an option to complete their general education classes in Singapore and then transfer to the U.S. for the 3rd and 4th year of the bachelor degree.

2. What is General Education?

For General Education, students will take subjects in a large variety of areas like humanities, social sciences, language, mathematics, etc. This will give students a broad-based education and an opportunity to identify an area they like.

3. How much exemption can I get as an ‘A’ level graduate?

Course exemptions are guaranteed with ‘A’ level results. The number of credit exemptions will depend on the kind of subjects taken at ‘A’ level. Exemptions usually amount to 20-30 credit hours, or close to a full academic year. This means that A-level graduates can complete the Associate Degree within one additional year.

4. Can I apply with my prelim results?

5. What is the tuition fee if I do the Associate Degree in Singapore?

The full 2-year tuition fee for the Associate Degree Program is approximately S$22,200.

6. Do I need to complete the 2 years of General Education in Singapore?

You need not complete the full 2 years of General Education in Singapore. You may transfer your credits over to the U.S. universities after any semester.

7. What are my other options if I do not go over to the U.S. eventually?

You may transfer to other countries like Australia, Canada, France, UK, etc. However, you must first verify that the university of choice will recognize the credits obtained. Alternatively, if you wish to remain in Singapore, you can sign up for the following options:

- Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from the University of South Florida (USF) through CAE.
- Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), Singapore Campus.

8. Is the Associate of Arts Degree scroll issued from BCC or CAE?

The scroll is issued by Broward Community College (BCC) in Florida. CAE does not issue any transcripts or scrolls.

9. Why should I study my U.S. degree with CAE in Singapore?

CAE was established since 1997 with the mission of providing a unique opportunity to obtain a quality American education in Singapore.

- Overall lower tuition fee, living costs as compared to studying in the U.S.
- Courses taught by highly qualified western-trained faculty with Master’s or Doctorate Degrees.
- Smaller class size for better interaction and attention from the faculty.

10. Are all my credits transferable to the U.S. universities?

Credits are transferable to nearly all universities in U.S. There are more than 3500 universities in the U.S. Some instances under which the credits may not transfer include:

- Grades of "D" and "F" will not transfer.
- "Intermediate" level courses will not transfer.
- There are rare exceptions of certain universities not accepting the credits done under the BCC program.

11. If I am a foreign student, how can I apply and what are the procedures?

We welcome foreign students to study in our school and we have a diverse student population. Students come from countries such as U.S., Switzerland, France, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, Mongolia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Myanmar. 12. Do I need to take the SAT examination if I intend to transfer credits to the U.S.?

SAT scores are also not required for entering the BCC program in Singapore. Only a few select universities would still require the SAT scores if the student has earned at least 30 credits in the BCC program.

13. Where is Broward Community College located?

BCC is located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in USA and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

14. How many intakes are there in a year?

There are 3 semester intakes per year: Fall (August), Winter (January) and Summer (June)

15. Is this a full-time or part-time degree program?

The Associate Degree program is done full-time for international students. Singaporeans, PRs and Dependent Pass holders may sign up for as many credits as they wish. If you are currently doing your National Service (NS) and you wish to start your degree (with SAF approval), there are evening classes for certain subjects that you may attend.

16. What do I need to graduate with a BCC Associate Degree?

In order to graduate with a BCC Associate Degree, students must complete 60 college credits in the required areas and obtain a minimum GPA of 2.0.

17. Can I defer from NS if I apply for the BCC program after my ‘O’ or ‘A’ levels?

CAE cannot guarantee NS deferment but we can assist with the application for deferment. Some of our students have been given deferment while some have not. CAE cannot speak for the criteria for deferment.

18. Can I apply for a study loan?

19. Are our programs recognized?

Our programs are accredited by the 6 main US accrediting associations in USA.
